If you have a virtual host account with PRIMUS, both of the most common
methods of using FrontPage will work for you. You can either create your webpages
on your own computer then publish them to your website, or you can manipulate
your files directly on the server. In fact, if you wish to make use of any of
the specialized features FrontPage offers, such as its forms, then you must either
publish with FrontPage, or open and save your web on the server. Creating the
files in FrontPage, then uploading them via FTP will not work. The instructions
that begin on this page are designed to help you connect to your FrontPage web
on our server for the purposes of editing the site live. It's important to note
that these changes really are live; no upload is involved. As soon as you make
and save the changes, viewers on the World Wide Web will be able to see them.
If you have a public_html directory, or you simply prefer to use the "create
first, publish later" method, you'll want to go here.
When FrontPage first opens, it will present you with the Getting Started
dialogue box shown here. If this is your first time using FrontPage, you will
probably only have the one web shown here in the Getting Started window; this
is the web on your local machine that was created when you installed the program.
You want to Open an Existing FrontPage Web. To do so, click on the More
Webs button.
