Included in the PRIMUS Software distribution is a program called CuteFTP.
FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol." FTP Software like CuteFTP
will allow you to copy files from your local drive to a remote computer
(upload) or to retrieve files located on a remote machine to your
own computer (download). If you create a homepage, you will need to
upload the files that you have made into the directory you have been
assigned at PRIMUS. Here is an explanation of how to Upload files
to your website.
Begin by connecting to PRIMUS and starting the CuteFTP program.
Now click on Add site to add a new location to your Site Manager.
You must fill in these fields with the correct information:
- Site Label : Your Website Name
- Host Name : www.yourdomain.com or shellhost.primushost.com
(where 'shellhost' is replaced with your shell host, shell.primushost.com

- UserID : your username
- Password : your password
- Initial Directory : public_html, or virtual_html if you have
a virtual host
Once all the information is filled into the appropriate fields, click connect. Once CuteFTP has
connected you should see two sides of the screen. On the left side you can access the folders on your
hard drive. Find the files you would like to upload. Select the files to upload by holding the Shift
key and clicking on the files with the mouse. Once the files are all highlighted use the right mouse
button and click on the files. A menu should popup, select Upload from the popup menu.
Your files should be successfully upload. You can also upload single files by double clicking on them or
dragging them from the left side of the screen to the right.
You can view your homepage by typing in either your domain name
or http://www.primushost.com/~username (shell.primushost.com user
