Now click on Identity and we can begin. The rest of the window will change to show you the items that can be edited under the Identity header.

Identity

These items are divided into 2 subsections. The first is Message Properties which has 3 items. The first 2 items are checkboxes and the 3rd is expecting a number as a value:

  • By default, send HTML messages: This item is asking if you wish to send all of your email messages as HTML. If the recipient is using an email reader which is also a www browser, such as Netscape, then their email reader will be able to display your mail messages as if they were HTML www pages. If the recipient is not using an email reader that is also a www browser, then your mail messages will look like raw HTML text; which can be difficult to read. Therefore PRIMUS recommends that this radio button to NOT be checked.
  • Automatically quote original message when replying: This item should be set to your personal preference.
  • Wrap long lines at [ ] characters: We suggest that this value be set to 72. Thus lines that are longer than 72 characters will be wrapped at the 73rd character.

The second subsection is 'Copies of outgoing messages' which has 4 items. These items are set based on your personal preference. PRIMUS recommends one does not modify these items until one is familar with Netscape v4.x and has read the user manual for the software.
