Setting Up Netscape to Use IMAP 3

Now click on Identity and we can begin. The rest of the window will change to show you the items that can be edited under the Identity header.

Identity

Below we will list these items and what the values can or should be. We will also offer an explainaton of the item where applicable:

  • Your name: Here one puts his or her actual name. Of course one can decided to put a psuedonym instead or it can be left blank. Please note, leaving this item blank does not mean your email will be anonymous.
  • Email address: This should be set to your email address. This will generally be username@primushost.com, where username is you PRIMUS username, but it could be different. Please contact PRIMUS support if you are not sure what your email address is. You can leave this item blank, but in general, this should not be done.
  • Reply-to address: This item is only filled in you want the reply address of outgoing messages to be different than your actual email address. For the most part, one can leave this item blank.
  • Organization: This item is where one would place the name of the company he or she works for. Or one can put 'PRIMUS' :) If one is not sure what to put here, just leave it blank.
  • Signature File: This item is looking for the path to a file which will be appended to the end of every outgoing message. If the file already exists, the 'Choose' button next to this field can be used to locate the file. This item is also optional and can be left blank.

The last item is a check box labelled with Always attach Address Book Card to messages. This is used another part of Netscape and for now, we recommend not checking this box. We have just completed the Identity section and can now move on to the next section.
