This document gives instructions for installing or upgrading Internet Explorer on your Windows 95/98 machine.

Downloading Internet Explorer

First, you must download Internet Explorer. Go to the Microsoft home page and go to their downloads section. Select the version of Internet Explorer that you want, and follow the instructions on the screen or download the file to a folder you select on your computer (preferably a 'download' folder). Make sure you remember the name of the file. You should be able to set up the software with the instructions that Microsoft provides, but if that doesn't work, the following should.

Installing Internet Explorer

Open your My Computer and find the folder you downloaded the set-up software into. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet; the Microsoft set-up file generally isn't the complete program, and needs to actually download it itself.

Double-click on the set-up file (it might be named ie5setup.exe or similar), and follow the instructions. That should be all you need.
